Jim Halligan – a brief biography:Born in Wexford in 1960, I have been painting seriously since the early 80’s. I'm fascinated by the ever-changing nature of light in Ireland… one of the few perks of our marvellous climate! Self taught, I have developed a tight and detailed style in my work to interpret the Irish landscape. I currently use the medium of acrylic paint because it allows me to work the colour quickly while still achieving the tonal depth of oil paint.
I work to commission with clients in Ireland, the US, Canada, Japan, Australia, the UK and in Europe. I have exhibited paintings at the Oisín Gallery and also at the Waldock Gallery in Blackrock. I have also sold work through reputable auction houses such as Mullen’s, Adam’s of Stephen's Green and Morgan O’Driscoll’s. A selection of my work can now be seen at Gallery Intermarium, Cornelscourt, Co Dublin. More work is also curated by the Carysfort Gallery, Dublin; and this includes two major shows at Kilkenny Arts Festival in August and the Wexford Opera Festival in October. |
